1959

1959 Social Letter

Dear Classmate,

It's about time, isn't it? On the one hand, it's about the fifty years that have flown by, and our collective experiences in life. On the other hand, it's about an occasion when we gather to greet one another with joy, recalling cherished memories. It's time to return for our 50th reunion and celebrate what Ohio Wesleyan has meant to us and for us.

Plan right now to return to campus May 15-17, 2009. Together we will discover anew what our special role in OWU's history has been, and what it yet will mean.

You have already seen images of the gift we are giving to the University. But now I write to urge you to see our accomplishment in person. No other time will be quite like this May when we will once again walk hallowed Bishop ground as friends. This event is promising to truly be a "golden" occasion. Many of our classmates are working hard to plan a marvelous set of days and the University will be opening its arms to us.

Ohio Wesleyan is making a special effort to bring members of our "Golden Anniversary" class back to campus, including no charge for meals on Friday and Saturday, and for Sunday brunch. A block of rooms has been reserved for us at the Hampton Inn (1-800-426-7866). The great highlight of the weekend will be our class reunion banquet on Saturday evening. Plans are to dedicate our class gift to the University prior to our reunion dinner. We'll even have our class picture taken on the steps of the Memorial Gate!

Below are some items you can begin to work on as we prepare for our May gathering.

1. COMPLETE AND RETURN the enclosed Alumni Questionnaire and Reunion Notes page to the Alumni Relations Office. Pay special attention to the Reunion Notes page, which includes space for you to tell everyone what you have been doing the last five years. These summaries
will be published in the SUMMER 2009 issue of the Ohio Wesleyan Magazine, if received by March 1, 2009. The Reunion Notes will also be compiled into a "Golden Key Yearbook" for the members of our class. Please return these forms soon!

2. MAKE YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE ANNUAL FUND. We want to increase our class gift so we can boast about our record participation and support for the 2008-09 Annual Fund. Every dollar increase helps OWU and if you have not participated in the campaign before, there has never been a better time. Ohio Wesleyan makes it easy to give: by check, credit card, or through the secure donation Web-site at http://alumni.owu.edu/giving. You may also make your Annual Fund gift in honor or memory of someone special.

3. REVIEW the enclosed list of "lost" classmates and let the Alumni Relations Office know if you have information on any of the individuals listed. They can be contacted at 740-368-3325 or by email at alumni@owu.edu.

One final note: please call, write or visit classmates to encourage them to come home for this set of days. It will be an unforgettable time!
